I've really enjoyed reading this book as it is actually quite interesting, especially for the level of Spanish required to read it. I won't be assigning a rating to this book because, truth be told, I stumbled upon it a while ago and ended up shelving it, eventually forgetting about it. Mapped to A2-B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference, these eight captivating stories will both entertain you, and give you a feeling of progress when listening. Would definitely recommend to read it once you are around a1 or above in Spanish, it's got useful advice from Olly Richards at the beginning for learning a language through stories and it has helped me more than any other method has. One downside (for some people) is that there are no English translations of the stories, however I didn’t feel that was any kind of limitation at all because of the way the series is designed. I also think that giving a paragraph summary at the end of each chapter, a new vocab list and a round of questions to answer helped to cement that feeling of comprehension. This is an excellent resource for learning especially if you follow the instructions not to look up the vocabulary straight away.

Learning a language is challenging, but it's one of the best things you can do for your brain and your learning skill set. But there are aspects about this book that don’t make it suitable for a beginner as it throws in present tense, past and future tenses whilst using conjugated verbs all without explanation. Instead of pausing to look up every word, you’ll absorb new vocabulary from the context of the story, and have the satisfaction of that moment when you say: “I totally understood that sentence!
